
The martyrdom of Thomas Cranmer, Archbishop of Canterbury at Oxford, 21 March 1556. Responsible for the liturgy of the Protestant Church of England and author of The Book of Common Prayer Under the Roman Catholic Mary I, Bloody Mary, Cranmer was found guilty of treason and heresy and burned at the stake.
