Dandyish 'Tatler' dressed in an 18th century frock coat and tri-cornered hat next to a coquettish 'Eve' on a bench. The picture is a humanised version of the relationship between two ILN titles, the Tatler and Britannia & Eve (which 'Eve' became in 1929). Atwell was an immensely popular commercial artist with a career spanning more than fifty years. As well as illustrating many children's books, she illustrated advertisements, produced countless postcards and other ephemera for Valentine's of Dundee and regularly was published in the Tatler during the 1920's.
