Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Crystals of pure sulphur at the sulphur banks near the Kilauea volcano, Big Island, Hawaii. Kilauea is an active shield volcano and the most active of the five volcanoes that together form the island of Hawaii (Big Island). Sulphur dioxide and hydrogen sulphide in the volcanic fumes react to produce the yellow crystals.
