Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) collaboration images of supermassive black holes M87* (left) and Sagittarius A* (right). The M87* black hole lies at the centre of the M87 galaxy and is 55 million light years from Earth. Sagittarius A* is closer to Earth at 27,000 light years away. Despite the M87* black hole being larger, both are surrounded by bright rings of a similar size. Both images were captured by the EHT telescope, a global network of radio telescopes.
