Hidden Treasure -- Art detective Carl O. Schniewind, curator of Prints and Drawings at the Art Institute here, recently discovered a valuable charcoal drawing on the back of a Pastel print he was preparing for the permanent collection of drawings to be shown in an institute exhibition. Contributed through the Tiffany Blake fund, the work was done by Paul Gauguin, French Artist who lived from 1848 to 1903, whose pastel, Tahitian Woman, is on the exhibition side. Here, Schniewind views the charcoal drawing he found while Alice Baughton of Olean, N.Y., student at the instutite, holds a mirror to reflect the face of the print. February 15, 1946.
