
Oedema of the optic disc. Fundoscopy image of the retina of a patients right eye in a case of oedema (fluid accumulation) of the optic disc. The retina is the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye. The optic disc is where the optic nerve connects with the retina. Swelling around the optic disc can be an indication of a number of different disorders, such as optic neuropathy, optic neuritis, and intracranial pressure. Treatment is of the underlying cause.
