
Description of the Jewels of St Albans, c 1250-1254. Text with sketches of gemstones and rings in the treasury at St Albans Abbey. Matthew Paris was one of the most prolific and readable of Medieval chroniclers. This is part of his illustrated description of the jewels in the treasury of St Albans Abbey, contained in "Liber Additamentorum" (Book of Additions), an appendix to his main work, the "Greater Chronicle".
