Henry Cotton takes on three women golfers Henry Cotton, twice British Open Champion and one of the world's leading professionals, retched his skill against three women golfers, who between them have won the British Women's Championship eight times, in a unique contest on the Maylands Course at Romford, Essex. The match was over 18 holes, Cotton playing the best ball of Lady Heathcoat-Amery (Joyce ??), Miss Enid Wilson, and Mme Rene Lecoste, French Champion eight times, who won the British title in 1927. The women played level with Cotton, receiving no advantages, even driving from the same teeing grounds. Henry Cotton driving off watched by his three women opponents. 6th October 1938.
