Secondary lymph node cancer. Computed tomography (CT, top) scan, positron-emission tomography (PET, middle) scan and coloured composite image (bottom) of coronal sections through the abdomen of a 31-year-old male patient with testicular cancer that has spread (metastasised) to the lymph nodes. Cancerous (malignant) lesions (coloured areas) are seen in the lymph nodes near the patients left kidney and abdominal aorta. This patient has primary testicular cancer, and had his testis removed (orchiectomy) one year before. The cancer has been highlighted using a radioactive marker in a technique that uses F-18-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG).
