Canada geese goslings (Branta canadensis) in water. When they hatch, goslings weigh between 85 and 114 grams. They are able to walk, swim, and find their own food almost immediately after hatching. Their diet consists of grasses and various terrestrial and aquatic plants. Parent geese are known to aggressively chase away nearby animals to protect their goslings.
