William Blake, English poet, painter, and printmaker, (1906). Although largely ignored by the public of his day, Blake (1770-1845) subsequently came to be regarded as one of the foremost figures of Romanticism. His best-known works include "Jerusalem" (1804-1820) and "The Four Zoas" (1795-1804). Trained at the Royal Academy as an engraver, he devised an innovative technique for producing coloured engravings. Supplement to "The Bookman", 1906. (Colorised black and white print).
