If placental infarcts are large enough, they may harm cause harm to the foetus. The infarcted villi are mostly devoid of nuclei, and thus appear uniformly pink on haematoxylin and eosin stain. Haematoxylin and eosin stained tissue section. Magnification: x200 when printed at 10cm.
