Light micrograph of a Nabothian cyst. Nabothian cysts are mucous filled cysts which commonly occur in the uterine cervix. The cyst is lined by cells with round nuclei (blue dots lined up in a curve) and mucinous cytoplasm (light blue). The secreted mucin (top half to two-thirds of image) accumulates in the cyst lumen. The cyst is present within the cervical stroma (pink at bottom of image) that contains cervical stromal cells (slightly elongated blue dots within pink area). Haematoxylin and eosin stained tissue section. Magnification: x200 when printed at 10cm.
